School closure update 5th January 2021
Tue 05 Jan 2021Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Following the announcement by the Prime Minister that schools will be closed to most children until at least February half term we are now working to finalise our plans for this period of time.
Children of critical workers –
For the rest of this week the groups of children already in school will continue in the same classrooms and timings. We will not be admitting any extra children until Monday 11th
If you will need a place for your child because you are a critical worker and need to be in work during school hours please contact office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk by 12:00 on Wednesday 6th January. We will confirm a place for you by Thursday 7th January at 12:00.
Those children who have been in school this week do not need to contact us as their place is already confirmed.
We need all parents dropping off and collecting their children to wear a mask when they are on the school site.
Home learning
Home learning packs will be available from the front of the school from today. Please wear a mask and respect social distancing when collecting the packs. Please sign that you have taken a pack on the list provided. We will contact any families that have not collected learning packs by 4:00 on Wednesday 6th January.
We have worked hard to improve the levels of engagement with home learning.
- Work will be set to be completed each day.
- Children will be expected to post their work onto the portfolio on Class Dojo each day.
- School staff will acknowledge the children’s work.
- School staff will contact families who are not engaging in home learning.
We hope that we are able to see all children return safely to school as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Chris Read
Interim Headteacher

School closure update 4th January 2021
Mon 04 Jan 2021Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
We will continue to be closed to most children for the rest of this week. Those children that have been in school today or who were offered a place on Sunday can attend.
We are very aware of the disruption this situation is causing but we cannot guarantee safe levels of staffing to open for all children. By making this decision today we hope that it helps families plan their arrangements. We will communicate a decision about next week as soon as we are able.
Home learning packs will be available from the front of the school from 3:00 on Tuesday. Please wear a mask and respect social distancing when collecting the packs. Please sign that you have taken a pack on the list provided. We will contact any families that have not collected learning packs by 4:00 on Wednesday 6.1.21

School opening arrangements 4th Jan 2021
Sun 03 Jan 2021Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Monday 4th January 2021
Unfortunately, we will only be open to children of key workers who need to go to work on Monday 4th January and vulnerable children. We will contact vulnerable children today to confirm arrangements. If you are a key worker and will be working on Monday 4th January and need your child to attend school please email office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk by 5:00 pm on Sunday 3rd January. Please state your job role, employer and usual working days. We will confirm a place for you by 6:30 pm.
Families that qualify for free school meals, please place orders with Mr Armes harmes@bishops.dneat.org by 9:15am on the 4th. Meals will be available to collect from the front of the school at 12:30.
As you will be aware most schools have been told to open from Monday 4th January. However, rising local infection rates, uncertainty over the new strain, a lack of clarity over the criteria for which schools in Tier 4 should be open and a difficult period of notice to plan in means that we cannot be sure we can open safely on Monday.
We will provide home learning for all children who are not in school. This will be sent via Dojo on Monday morning.
We will also use Monday to review our plans, reflect on local and national guidance and then share the arrangements for the rest of the week with you at the earliest opportunity.
I am sorry for the disruption that this will cause but we remain in a very difficult situation. Please continue to follow the tier 4 rules.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home
What are the restrictions in tier four?
- Residents should stay at home, unless they have a "reasonable excuse" such as work or education
- All non-essential shops must close
- You cannot meet other people indoors, unless you live with them or they are part of your support bubble
- People should not leave tier four areas or travel abroad, except for limited reasons (including work and education)
"Clinically extremely vulnerable" people in tier four areas are advised to stay at home "as much as possible". The government says if they can't work from home, they shouldn't go to work.
What can you do in tier four?
Activities still allowed include:
- Unlimited exercise outdoors
- Meeting one other person from another household in an open public space, if you are both alone
- Shopping for essentials such as food and medicine
- Outdoor pools, playgrounds, sports courts, golf courses and horse riding centres can open
- You can leave home for work, education, training, childcare and for medical appointments and emergencies
- Communal religious worship
- Support bubbles are still allowed and children can move between separated parents
Best wishes,
Chris Read - Interim Headteacher
