School Closure Update 25th January 2021
Mon 25 Jan 202125.1.21
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that every child who can be cared for at home should stay at home.
We have decided to issue on message to all families each week on a Monday rather than a daily message. We are aware that you are all in contact with teachers and teaching assistants and we feel that systems are well established so there is no need for a daily bulletin.
Home learning
New home learning packs are now available at the front of the school for all year groups and we ask you to collect these as soon as possible. Please wash your hands, wear a mask and respect social distancing while collecting.
If your child has a ball they will enjoy joining in with this video: https://youtu.be/bL2zuOx24GM
The Bishop’s Community Lockdown Recipe Book
We are lucky to live and work in a diverse community where the children learn and develop from each other’s experiences and backgrounds. We would like to celebrate the different cultures in our community and provide some lockdown activities by compiling a recipe book.
Please send us recipes from different countries and cultures to office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
We will share these recipes over the coming weeks.
Mamy szczęście, że żyjemy i pracujemy w zróżnicowanej społeczności, w której dzieci uczą się i rozwijają na podstawie doświadczeń i pochodzenia innych. Chcielibyśmy uczcić różne kultury w naszej społeczności i zapewnić pewne działania związane z blokowaniem, tworząc książkę z przepisami.
Prześlij nam przepisy z różnych krajów i kultur na adres office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
Będziemy udostępniać te przepisy w nadchodzących tygodniach.

Advice to all parents and carers (and pupils where age appropriate) - COVID-19 single confirmed case
Mon 18 Jan 2021Advice to all parents and carers (and pupils where age appropriate) - COVID-19 single confirmed case
Dear parents and carers/pupils,
We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the setting.
We are working closely with the Norfolk Outbreak Management Team at Norfolk County Council and continue to be vigilant for any other cases. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.
Those children and staff members who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter advising them to self-isolate in line with the national guidance. If you have not received a letter identifying your child as a close contact your child is not advised to self-isolate on account of the case in the school. This letter is for your information only.
The setting remains open to the children of critical workers and providing your child remains well they can continue to attend as normal. We will keep this under review if there are any further developments.
What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID-19
Although your child has not been identified as a close contact, I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with general information on COVID-19.
If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared and you should inform the school. We would also recommend getting a test as soon as possible. Information on testing is available via the links below or by calling NHS 119. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
https://www.justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/test-trace
http://www.nnuh.nhs.uk/our-services/covid-19-testing-key-workers/
All other household members must also stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days. The 10-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.
By household members staying at home for 10 days you will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community.
If you are able you should, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period
Further information on isolation is available here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance
If your child is isolating due to developing symptoms themselves, or due the household isolation or being identified as a close contact please let us know as soon as possible in the same way you normally report absence. This will help us to take the right precautions at the setting.
If their test is negative they can return to school when they are well and the other household members can also return to their normal routine.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
If your child or anyone in the household does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/ or by phoning 111.
How to stop COVID-19 spreading
There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19
- Follow the guidance on social distancing
- wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
- use hand sanitiser if soap and water are not available
- wash your hands as soon as you get home
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
Further information is available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
Yours sincerely

School Closure Update 15/01/2020
Fri 15 Jan 202115.1.21
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that every child who can be cared for at home should stay at home.
We hope that you are all managing during this difficult time. Thank you for your co-operation and your support with home learning. We do fully appreciate the challenges of home learning and, although we want the children to continue to learn, we know that home learning can be a real pressure. It is sometime important to take a break and start again later, or the next day. If your child is not able to complete all the work send a message to the teacher. It is important that you keep in touch with us so that we understand how you are all getting on.
Home learning
All children should now have a learning pack that lasts until Friday 22nd January. Work should be posted onto Dojo or Google Classrooms depending on your child’s year group.
Provision in school –
Children must not come to school if they, anyone in the household or anyone they have been in contact with have a continuous cough, temperature, loss of taste or loss of smell.

School Closure update 7th January 2021
Thu 07 Jan 20217.1.21
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that every child who can be cared for at home should stay at home.
Home learning
Home learning packs for this week should now have been collected from the front of the school. Please ensure that your child is posting their work to their Dojo portfolio each day.
A pack for the next two weeks will be available for the following two weeks.
Please sign that you have taken a pack on the list provided. We will contact any families that have not collected learning packs by 12:00 on Tuesday 12th January.
Free additional mobile phone data
The Department of Education has set up a scheme to increase data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is to help children access remote education.
Children with access to a mobile phone on one of the following networks might be able to benefit:
- Three
- Smarty
- Virgin Mobile
- EE
- Tesco Mobile
- Sky Mobile
Other providers may join the scheme at a later stage.
We would need to make a request on your behalf. If you are interested in gaining additional data please email office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk with the following information:
- the name of the account holder
- the number of the mobile device
- the mobile network of that device (for example Three)
If successful you will receive a text when the extra data becomes available.
Provision in school –
Children must not come to school if they, anyone in the household or anyone they have been in contact with have a continuous cough, temperature, loss of taste or loss of smell.
Children should only come to school if they cannot stay at home. This will mean that some children do not come in everyday.
Children must only come into school if a place has been confirmed by the school.
We need all parents dropping off and collecting their children to wear a mask when they are on the school site.
From Monday 11th January all children will arrive and leave school at the same time. This is because we have far fewer children in school. Children in Y3 and above should be dropped of at the front of the school to limit the number of adults on site. Please ensure you wear a mask and keep 2 metres away from other adults.
8:55 Gates open
9:00 Start of school
3:15 End of school
If you will need a place for your child because you are a critical worker and need to be in work during school hours please contact office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk by 12:00 on Wednesday 13th January. We will confirm a place for you by Thursday 14th January at 12:00.
Those children who have been in school this week do not need to contact us as their place is already confirmed.
We hope that we are able to see all children return safely to school as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Chris Read
Interim Headteacher
