I feel enormously proud and privileged to be the Head teacher of The Bishop's Church of England Primary Academy.

The Bishop's is a warm, caring and vibrant community. We work hard to provide support and challenge to ensure that all children, regardless of their starting points, will achieve well to go on to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

It is with enormous pride that we greet our students every day. The children are real ambassadors for the school beyond the school gates. Within school they are courteous, warm and show real kindness and respect to all members of the school community.

Our children work hard to achieve their best. They are passionate about the school. Our children enjoy coming to school. They study a range of subjects and speak enthusiastically about their learning. Children have the opportunity to take on active citizenship roles as school councillors giving them the opportunity to explore British values and impact on the direction of the school. They take these roles seriously and know that they are expected to be good role models to others. Children are well cared for as staff know the children well and implement a range of interventions and support. We have a range of specialists working within and alongside the school to ensure our children’s academic and emotional needs are met.

The school values are Christian based and prominent within worship, displays and our conversations with children. Our values of Respect, Service, Friendship, Forgiveness, Courage and Perseverance underpin the learning and relationships within the school.

Staff choose to stay at the school because they care deeply about the children and each other within the family at Bishop's. They enjoy working together and the challenges of our vibrant community.

It is an absolute honour to be working as the Deputy Head / Inclusion Lead at The Bishops. I am passionate in ensuring that all children are given the opportunity to be the best they can be, and constantly strive to ensure they are happy and aspirational when learning.

Read Write Inc has helped the children to become more confident and speedy with their reading over time. It is excellent to see the rapid progress children make in English.

The standard of maths across the school is being raised through ensuring teaching is clearly matched to the needs of all the pupils with a keen focus on improving number knowledge and calculation skills. 

Mrs J Woolner- English Lead

Our ambitious curriculum enhances English standards by incorporating inspiring texts that enrich students' learning. Coupled with a small-step mastery approach to writing, this strategy nurtures the development of both imaginative and proficient writers.

Mr H Armes- School Business & Resource Manager

I enjoy the challenge and variety of the role at Bishop’s, working alongside a team with a “can do” attitude, with a shared focus on improving the outcomes for our children and community.
