Please remember to post examples of home learning onto the new portfolios. For Year 2,3,4,5 and 6 these are in the new year group classes.
If you need help with dojo, help will be available in school to show you what to do.
We do understand how difficult it is to support home learning. We hope these materials help but we only ask families to do their best with their children. Sometimes taking a break is really important. You can always return to learning activities later in the day.
It is also helpful to practise basic skills such as:

- A short writing activity
- A physical activity
These can be done in a variety of ways – sometimes without the children even noticing!!

School Closure Update 23rd June 2020
Tue 23 Jun 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy
Date: Tuesday 23rd June 2020
Provision in school
The school is now open for Nursery, Reception and Year 1. Some Year 6 children are returning to school later in the week.
Please contact the school to organise a place. For children to start next Monday you must contact us before 12:00 tomorrow.
office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
The sessions in school are running very well. However, please remember that you need at arrive at the right time as we do not have anyone to supervise children who arrive early. Also, if you are late the gates will be closed because we cannot have parents walking through groups that may be working outside.
Unfortunately, we are not allowing children to cycle to school at the moment as there may be crowding at the cycle racks.
Please remember that Reception and Year 1 will be closed from 12:00 every Friday to allow for cleaning
Home learning
As more children and teachers return to school, the way in which home learning is provided will need to change. A new dojo class for each year has been created and from next week this is where those children still using home learning packs will receive information and help from the teacher overseeing their group. Don't worry you will still be able to message your current class teacher via their old dojo class, but they may be in school and not able to respond quickly.
If you need help with dojo, help will be available in school to show you what to do.
Lunch arrangements
Due to the increased number of children now attending school, along with the limited number of Kitchen staff allowed on site, we will be continuing with cold pack lunches next week. Please continue to place your order of Ham/Cheese/Tuna to Mrs Knight admin@bishops.norfolk.sch.uk by Friday afternoon for the following weeks meals.
With government guidance now changing we are offering collection only in the school carpark. Please speak to the office if you are having to isolate due to a government track and trace request.
Critical workers
We are presuming that all critical workers have now returned to work, and with our groups at capacity will not be able to offer any further places in these groups. There are places for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.

Staff news
Over the last few weeks there have been some important staffing changes within the school.
Dan Pickard has now left his role as Headteacher at the Bishops, We would like to wish him well in his future endeavours. Chris Read will continue as Interim Headteacher while DNEAT seek to appoint a new, permanent Headteacher and then support the induction of the successful applicant.
Last week Miss Boyle gave birth to a little boy. I am sure you join us in wishing Miss Boyle and her family well.
Mr S Taylor will be leaving at the end of the term. We thank Mr Taylor for all he has done to support Bishops.
Also leaving at the end of term is Mrs Sody. Mrs Sody has provided music lessons in the school in recent years and led a number of important visits and events.
We are pleased to have appointed three new members of staff. Miss Sirrell has been working in the school since Easter while Miss Sole and Mr Davies will also be joining our teaching team over the summer.
The government have now announced that they intend all children to return to school in September. We are awaiting guidance in the coming about how schools will be organised. Once that we have this information we will review our plans and communicate to you who your child will be working with and in which classroom. There has been so much uncertainty in so many areas of our lives we are sorry that we cannot be clearer about this at the moment.
However, we are very aware that the children who have not yet returned to school will need time to settle back into school and get to know the adults with whom they are working.

School Closure Update 17th June 2020
Wed 17 Jun 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy
Date: Wednesday 17th June 2020
We enjoyed another successful day yesterday with Reception and Year 1 children. Today we will confirm places for any other children to join these groups next week. We will also be confirming arrangements for Nursery sessions that will start next week. We will be finalising all these lists during the morning so if you want your child to attend please email the office straight away!
office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
Children in any of the groups should wear school uniform or school PE kit – plain white t shirt and dark shorts. Trainers should be worn as we are spending a lot of time outside. We also ask you to ensure that your child has a water bottle and suncream.
Home learning
New home learning packs are now available to collect from the school entrance. As there will be more teachers in school there will be some changes in the way that we communicate with you.
There will be general reminders to carry out daily tasks and we would still like you to post evidence of learning each day.
You will still have access to message your child’s current class teacher but they may not be able to respond quickly if they are working in school. This will be clarified over the next week.
Please respect social distancing when you collect the packs.
e safety
With the children accessing a range of learning activities on line it is important for mums, dads and carers to monitor their use of devise. The following resource is very useful:
Thinkuknow is the education programme from NCA-CEOP, a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline.
Explore one of the six Thinkuknow websites for advice about staying safe when you're on a phone, tablet or computer.
https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/
Critical workers
The school is currently required to offer provision for children of critical workers. With some workers beginning to return to work there will be an increase in the number of children attending these sessions. Please ensure that you email the school office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk if you need your child to attend school. A member of staff will contact you to confirm arrangements before your child attends school. We will need to see evidence of your employment before a place can be confirmed. A list of critical workers can be found at:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
We need to follow this process so that we can meet safety requirements for children and adults in school.
Home learning
We do understand how difficult it is to support home learning. We hope these materials help but we only ask families to do their best with their children. Sometimes taking a break is really important. You can always return to learning activities later in the day.

If you think that you are a key worker and have not already spoken to us you MUST speak to us before sending your child in so that we can ensure there are enough adults present in school. Please contact the school to book places. office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
Families who have ordered a free school meal should collect these from the car park at 12:00. Please ensure that you stay two metres away from others as you wait to collect. If you do not collect an ordered meal we will not be able to provide further food for the rest of the week. We have been instructed to reduce food waste and only provide meals that will be collected.

School Closure update 16th June 2020
Tue 16 Jun 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy Date: Tuesday 16th June 2020
Yesterday was our first day with Reception and Year 1 children back in school. It was great to see familiar faces back in school as we took careful steps towards a new normal.
If you have a child in Reception or Year 1 and would like them to attend next week please contact the school office so we can place your child in a new group, let you know our expectations and confirm a place.
office@bishop.norfolk.sch.ukWe are working to offer provision to children in Nursery and Year 6 at a later date.
We need to follow this process so that we can meet safety requirements for children and adults in school.
Home learning
We do understand how difficult it is to support home learning. We hope these materials help but we only ask families to do their best with their children. Sometimes taking a break is really important. You can always return to learning activities later in the day.
It is also helpful to practise basic skills such as:
- Maths – counting and/or multiplication tables
- A reading activity with an adult or older brother or sister
- Practising spelling or phonics
- A short writing activity
- A physical activity
These can be done in a variety of ways – sometimes without the children even noticing!!
There remain a huge amount or really useful and enjoyable resources available on the internet. These can also be used at any stage. We think the following are particularly helpful:
