School Closure update 30/04/2020
Thu 30 Apr 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy Date: Thursday 30th April 2020
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that: ‘every child who can be cared for at home should be.’
We hope that you and your family are well and that you are adapting to staying at home.
We continue to provide learning activities for all children. This week these can be found on our website:
https://www.bishop.norfolk.sch.uk/coronavirus-school-closure-weekly-work/
We feel that it is best that the children practise some basic activities every day:
- Maths – counting and/or multiplication tables
- A reading activity with an adult or older brother or sister
- Practising spelling or phonics
- A short writing activity
- A physical activity
We feel that these revision activities are the most accessible and if the children make progress in these key areas while they are not in school it will be easier for us to help them to catch up when they do return to school.
Please do log into your class dojo and make comments as this is helpful for us to know how many children are engaging with the learning.
There are many resources being made available on the internet. We have already planned work for your children and would like the children to complete the work provided by the school.
However, there are some useful learning in these new resources so we are sharing the links if you would like to do some extra work with your child.

Devons inspirational Fundraising
Fri 24 Apr 2020Good evening everyone
I know we are all looking for little bits of good news and things to put a smile on our face during this difficult time. Well this story did just that for me today.
Our very own Devon Hampton making the news with his amazing fundraising effort.... 1000 star jumps in his garden!
I tried in my garden this evening and was puffed out after 10.
After setting an initial target of £100 on his just giving page , he has now doubled his target to £200
We are all so proud of you Devon, definitely showing the school values of Service, Friendship & Perseverance.
Donations are still being taken via the link below.
We would love to hear any more stories of the wonderful things our children are doing to stay motivated and help the community. Please message me via dojo and I will share on school story....

School Closure update 24/04/2020
Fri 24 Apr 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy Date: Friday 24th April 2020
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that: ‘every child who can be cared for at home should be.’
We hope that you and your family are well and that you are adapting to staying at home.
As you are aware, there have been some staff changes over Easter. However, Mr Taylor will continue to provide work and manage class dojo for Rowan Class while Miss Sirrell will be taking on responsibilities for Mulberry Class, working closely with Miss Perkins.
We continue to provide learning activities for all children. This week these can be found on our website:
https://www.bishop.norfolk.sch.uk/coronavirus-school-closure-weekly-work/
We feel that it is best that the children practise some basic activities every day:
- Maths – counting and/or multiplication tables
- A reading activity with an adult or older brother or sister
- Practising spelling or phonics
- A short writing activity
- A physical activity
Thank you for the feedback that you have provided about home learning. We appreciate that a number of families would like to have more activities that do not rely in the internet. We have now planned to reintroduce weekly learning packs. These will be available from May 4th. We will provide further details about collecting the packs next week.
At the moment children have the same main tasks even if they are in different year groups. This is because we want to focus on practising key skills in maths, reading, spelling and writing. While the main task is the same children will be able to extend their learning by reading more difficult texts, writing more complex pieces of writing, learning harder multiplication tables or building more complex spelling words. We feel that these revision activities are the most accessible and if the children make progress in these key areas while they are not in school it will be easier for us to help them to catch up when they do return to school.

We are offering a provision for children of key workers and vulnerable children in line with government advice. If you think that you are a key worker and have not already spoken to us you MUST speak to us before sending your child in so that we can ensure there are enough adults present in school. Please contact the school to book places. office@bishop.norfolk.sch.uk
Families who have ordered a free school meal should collect these from the car park at 12:00. Please ensure that you stay two metres away from others as you wait to collect. If you do not collect an ordered meal we will not be able to provide further food for the rest of the week as we have been instructed to reduce food.

School Closure update 21/04/2020
Tue 21 Apr 2020Bishop’s Primary Academy Date: Tuesday 21st April 2020
Unfortunately, the school is closed to most children.
Government advice remains that: ‘every child who can be cared for at home should be.’
We hope that you and your family are well and that you are adapting to staying at home.
We continue to provide learning activities for all children. This week these can be found on our website:
https://www.bishop.norfolk.sch.uk/coronavirus-school-closure-weekly-work/
We feel that it is best that the children practise some basic activities every day:
- Maths – counting and/or multiplication tables
- A reading activity with an adult or older brother or sister
- Practising spelling or phonics
- A short writing activity
- A physical activity
We believe that if the children make progress in these key areas while they are not in school it will be easier for us to help them to catch up when they do return to school.
Yesterday a range of other resources were launched through the Department for Education and the BBC. We had already planned work for your children and would like the children to complete the work provided by the school.
However, there are some useful learning in these new resources so we are sharing the links if you would like to do some extra work with your child.
